PED: Europe Legal Mandate
The Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) is an EU legislative directive for pressure equipment over 0.5 bar. Unlike voluntary ASME/API standards, PED is a regulatory mandate requiring CE marking for EU market access.
PED Risk Categories (I-IV)
Classification based on fluid type, pressure, and volume. Category III and IV require Notified Body involvement.
ASME: Technical Heavyweight
